Before you decide whether Witchy Woo MAGICKZINE is the right fit for you, I wanted to share something a little more personal.
Every edition begins long before the pages are designed or the articles are written. It begins with a little girl who dreamed of creating magazines.
I absolutely loved them! Every time we went shopping, I’d ask if I could have one and, if I was lucky enough to take one home, I’d disappear for hours, reading every page from cover to cover. I loved discovering new stories, learning something I didn’t know before and feeling inspired by the people and ideas waiting inside. Looking back now, I realise it wasn’t just magazines I loved, it was the way words could make you feel something. They could comfort you, encourage you, challenge you or leave you seeing the world a little differently than you had before.
Life, as it often does, took me in a completely different direction. Instead of becoming a journalist, I found myself immersed in spirituality, the Akashic Records and helping women reconnect with themselves. It wasn’t the path I imagined, but it became the one that felt like home. Then, years later, I started the Witchy Woo Podcast, and without even realising it, I found my voice. It became a place where I could speak openly about the things I believed in, but more importantly, it became a place where other incredible women could share their voices too. Women with remarkable stories, years of wisdom and experiences that deserved to be heard.
I’ve always believed that words carry power. Whether they’re spoken across a kitchen table, shared on a podcast or written onto the pages of a magazine, they have the ability to stay with us long after we’ve heard them. They can plant seeds, offer hope, spark new ideas or simply remind us that we’re not alone. I often say that words are spells because, once they’re released into the world, they leave a little piece of themselves with the people who receive them.
When the idea for MAGICKZINE arrived, it felt as though every chapter of my life had quietly been leading me towards it. It brought together the little girl who dreamed of creating magazines, the woman who found healing through spirituality and the podcaster who discovered just how powerful it is when women are given the space to use their voices. From the very beginning, I knew I didn’t want this to become a magazine filled only with my own words. I wanted it to become a platform where incredible witches, healers, mediums, astrologers, psychics and spiritual teachers could share their knowledge, their experiences and their hearts with a community that genuinely wanted to learn from them.
There is another part of this story that I can’t tell without mentioning two of the most important women in my life. My mum passed away when I was just ten years old, and more recently I lost my beautiful nan, who believed in me long before I believed in myself. She always encouraged my writing, always wanted to read what I’d been working on and never missed an opportunity to tell me she was proud. Not long before she passed away, I wrote a poem for her, and after she died that same poem was read at her funeral. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever experienced, but it reminded me that words really do matter. They help us celebrate, they help us grieve, they help us remember and, sometimes, they help us heal.
As someone who believes our loved ones continue to walk beside us in different ways, I often think about my mum and my nan while each edition is coming together. I’d like to think that every page carries a little of the encouragement they always gave me, and that somewhere, they’d both be smiling at the fact that the little girl who couldn’t leave a shop without a magazine tucked under her arm grew up to create one of her own.
My hope is that when MAGICKZINE arrives in your inbox each month, it becomes much more than something you simply read. I hope it gives you an excuse to put the kettle on, light a candle and carve out a little time that’s completely yours. I hope you discover an author whose words stay with you, a ritual that becomes part of your own practice, or an article that finds you at exactly the right moment. More than anything, I hope these pages remind you that your spiritual path doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s, and that there’s a whole community of women walking alongside you.
